I am not British but I do know that their army wants to see a maximum of 10.5 minutes (I have an international friend that is in the army there). I am an AF brat and a good time among my AF friends would probably be about 8:30-9, though some can do better but running isnt my strong suite. But 10:35 is an awesome time for first run when you aren't even in shape! You will do great if you just keep running :-).
