What do army defence cuts mean for people half way through there application?

I keep hearing about soldiers loosing there jobs and major defence cuts, does this mean there gonna stop recruiting? I'm in the midst of a deferral until this problem is sorted what does the defence cuts mean for people like me who want to join and are halfway through there application? Anyone with knowledge appreciated
