Would the Germans have succeeded at Stalingrad if they had not had Bohunks and Italians guarding the flanks?

The Battle of Stalingrad was lost before it started. There was a large battle just before and north of the city that almost nobody has ever heard of which diverted most of 6th Army's armor away from the attack on the city. IMHO had this armor and other forces been at Stalingrad at the outset the city would have fallen in just a week, maybe two instead of turning into a months-long quagmire.
